Confronting Antisemitism By Instilling Jewish Pride

Meeting the Moment for Jewish Education

Founded in August 2020, Our Heritage was born out of a pressing need to safeguard Jewish identity for future generations. As antisemitism grows in public and educational spaces, the urgency to equip Jewish youth with a strong foundation and sense of pride is greater than ever.

By supporting Chabad day schools, Our Heritage maximizes opportunities for students transitioning from public and non-Jewish private schools. Through financial aid and strategic school support, the program ensures that more children receive a strong Jewish foundation, securing the future of Jewish education and identity.

Strategic Investments for the Future

Beyond just assisting individual students, Our Heritage takes a strategic approach—empowering Jewish day schools with matching grants of up to $30,000 to expand their reach and enroll more students transitioning from public or non-Jewish private schools. By strengthening schools, we create lasting impact—helping them grow, enhance recruitment, and provide a nurturing Jewish environment.

A Legacy of Spiritual Renewal

Founded in 1775 by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, Chabad emerged as a transformative Jewish movement dedicated to spiritual renewal and outreach. Through generations, its mission remained unwavering: to strengthen Jewish identity and create meaningful connections to tradition.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, expanded this vision globally, establishing a worldwide network of educational and spiritual centers that are the most powerful force in Jewish life today.
The Rebbe’s profound teachings and unwavering commitment to Jewish continuity inspired the founding of Our Heritage and continue to illuminate our path forward.

Our Heritage is dedicated in memory of Reb Shneur Hirsch OBM, a passionate advocate for chinuch and a longtime friend of MEF.

From the very beginning, Shneur believed deeply in the power of this program to transform lives. “This is a chance to change the course of a Jewish child’s life,” he told MEF in 2020, urging us to move forward. His unwavering support was instrumental in launching what has since enabled hundreds of public-school students to receive a Jewish education and build Torah homes.

Shneur passed away shortly after the program’s launch, following a courageous two-year battle with illness. Yet he was able to see a glimpse of its impact—witnessing the first steps of what would become a life-changing journey for so many children. In 2021, the program was renamed in his memory—honoring both his belief in its mission and his pivotal role in its success.

May the Torah learned by these children be a lasting merit for Shneur Zalman ben yblch”t Gimpel Avraham.
